Medic
Medic is weak in combat, however, he is the pillar of a team and is the key person to lead his team to winning. A good medic can turn the tide of a battle. A good medic can make his teammates feel secure and confident in combat. A good medic can save the day. I'm serious, medic is a must in a team. It's rare to see a team win without any medic.

Tips:

-Look out for spies while healing teammates, you have a lot of free time to think and observe the enemy team when you are healing teammates, look for suspicious players, especially those who don't fight during battles. If you see an incoming enemy spy behind your team, yell out 'spy' in chat instead of handling him yourself as a spy can kill you easily with a revolver. Let your teammate do the job, you are supposed to heal, not taking kills.

-Don't be a pocket medic! I have seen way too many new players who only focus on healing heavy/soldier for more buffed health. It can be a good strategy if he draw most of the enemy firepower on himself. But that case is very rare. Healing multiple targets also fill up your ubercharge faster (except vaccinator).

-Allow teammates to sacrifice themselves for saving you. TF2 is a game, not a movie, there is no need for a medic to stay together with a dying teammate when ten guys are chasing you. A dying teammate(especially scout) can ambush enemies and slow them down. Your escape means a lot to your team, you can heal other teammates to get rid of your pursuers.

-Use your syringe gun and melee weapons. If you are travelling in small groups (1-3) people, it is better to have more damage output than healing as close range combat are more likely to happen. Your syringe gun is actually a strong weapon in close quarters, dealing 10 damage per shot, together with the high fire rate allow you to kill a heavy in 3 seconds provided that every syringe hits. Melee weapons is also a good choice if you can't aim accurately due to the firing arc of a syringe gun.

My Builds:

Crusader's Crossbow + Medi Gun/ Kritzkrieg + Amputator

This is a team fight build for maximum healing. Use it in game modes like control points, payload where many team fights take place. Crusader's crossbow allow long range healing or taking kills. The bolt travel pretty fast so hitting escaping enemies is easier than syringe gun a lot. At the same time it deals damage/heal more the longer distance it travelled, it's opposite with the syringe gun. So it's more suitable for team fight as a medic shouldn't be involved in close range battles. Choose the healing gun depending on your team's need. Medi gun for sustainability or kritzkrieg for damage output. Amputator is useful when your whole team get ambushed by soldier/demoman, which the whole team suffer from area damage. In this case amputator is much better than healing guns as it prevent unhealed teammates from dying.

Overdose + Quick-Fix + Ubersaw

This build is for ambushing in a small group. Overdose boost the speed of medic when finding places to hide. The 10% damage reduction is a insignificant drawback as medic seldom need to use syringe guns. Quick-fix is especially good at keeping up with scouts, it's useful in either pursuing or escaping. And it's ubercharge builds up much faster than medi gun. Ubersaw in close range battle allow medic to quickly hits an enemy to fill up uber meter, then activate it afterwards to win a small fight easily. However, this is not recommended at team fights, because snipers and spies can break your ubercharge by headshots or backstabs.

Crusader's Crossbow + Vaccinator + Solemn Vow

This is a defensive build for medic. Crusader's crossbow grant medic the ability of long range combat. Which is useful when the enemy team is approaching. Vaccinator is better used in defensive situations as you have more time to observe and determine what is the primary source of damage and adjust your vaccinator accordingly. Solemn vow allow you to spot out enemies that are low on health. Notify your teammates about them and eliminate them before they decide to retreat.
